Borgo Panigale, Bologna, December 2, 2020 – The Ducati World Première web series ended with the fifth and final episode in which the Borgo Panigale motorcycle company unveiled the new Monster,a motorcycle that like few others has marked the history of Ducati. It is the best-selling model ever: more than 350,000 have been produced since its presentation.

The new Monster represents all ducati essence in the most compact, essential and light form possible. You can already see it from the name: Monster, nothing else.
The recipe is the original one: a sports engine, but perfect for road use, combined with a Superbike derivation frame.
That’s all you need to have fun, every day.

At the base of the new Monster there are the same concepts that bind it to the unforgettable Monster 900, the first, true naked sport, but reinterpreted and updated. The result is a bike with an advanced, easy and effective bike, able to immediately establish a perfect feeling from the first corners. The driving position is less loaded on the wrists, the engine offers an excellent balance between power, torque and ease of management.

To create the new Monster designers and designers started from scratch, but having clear the key points around which the new bike had to be built. Lean and agile, the bike takes up the DNA guidelines of each Monster: “bison back” tank, round headlight “embedded in the shoulders”, clean tail and engine in the center of the scene. But the language is new and modern. The shapes have evolved in a direction where essentiality and technology are enhanced by design, such as in the circular profile of the LED front projector or in the “sweeping” direction indicators.

The new Monster is sporty and fun.
The Monster features the 937 cc twin-cylinder L-shaped 11° Testastretta engine, with desmodromic distribution and Euro 5 homologated. Compared to the previous 821 it grows in displacement, power, torque and decreases in weight (-2.4 kg) to contribute to the lightness of the bike and offer better driveability. It now delivers 111 hp at 9,250 rpm with a maximum torque of 9.5 Nm delivered at just 6,500 rpm, proving to be efficient and responsive in gas response. Thanks to the increase in displacement, torque has improved at all speeds, in particular medium-low speeds, i.e. those normally used on the road and between curves. This guarantees exciting performance as well as ease and driving pleasure, also supported by the new gearbox and the Ducati Quick Shift Up/Down mounted as standard. The Monster is also available in a 35 kW version, for A2 license holders.

The new Monster is lightweight.
To ensure maximum fun, great attention was paid to weight reduction in the realization of the new Monster. Cycling, accessory elements and superstructures have been redesigned in order to create a compact and light bike, perfect for everyday life as well as for sports use.

The alumino frame is a front frame, the same concept as the Panigale V4.
It is very short and fixed directly to the heads. Weighing only 3 kg, this frame is 4.5 kg lighter (60% less) than the previous slit and helps reduce the weight of the bike to just 166 kg dry.

Each component has been redesigned and lightened: the rims lose 1.7 kg, the swingarm lightens by 1.6 kg. The rear frame drops by 1.9 kg thanks also to the GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) technology with which it was made, which has allowed the optimization of shapes and surfaces for the benefit of lightness and dimensional compactness. The total weight savings in running order are as much as 18 kg compared to the Monster 821.

The new Monster is easy,in any situation.
The ground height of the saddle of the new Monster is 820 mm. This, combined with the narrow sides of the bike, makes it possible to put your feet on the ground in a very easy way. As an accessory, a saddle is available that reduces the height from the ground to 800 mm, while still maintaining good padding. And, for those who want it, you can buy a simple suspension kit that lowers the vehicle further reducing the saddle height to 775 mm from the ground.

In order to ensure maximum manoeuvrability at low gait and to facilitate stationary manoeuvring, the steering angle has been increased (36°, 7° more than the 821). The handlebar has been approached to the driver’s rider of about 7 cm to have a more upright driving position that guarantees greater comfort and control. The position of the feet has also been changed, in fact the legs are now less curled up. All this translates into great ease of driving, even in city traffic.

The new Monster is technological.
The standard equipment includes ABS Cornering, Traction Control and Wheelie Control, all adjustable on different levels of intervention. The sporty character of the bike is also underlined by launch control that ensures lightning departures. This electronic equipment allows you to express the performance of the bike with a high degree of active safety.

The new Monster is equipped with three Riding Modes (Sport, Urban, Touring) that allow you to shape the character of the bike according to tastes and needs. Everything is easily manageable through the handlebar controls and the 4.3″ colour TFT dashboard characterized by racing graphics that take up that of the Panigale V4, with a large t-infection that shows in the center the indication of the gear inserted.

The Monster has always been a symbol of customization.
To allow each Monsterista to make their bike even more unique, adhesive kits have been created that enhance the shapes of the Monster and celebrate Ducati sportsmanship. For those who want to accentuate even more strongly the style of their Monster, clothing kits with even richer graphics have also been made. As with all Ducati motorcycles, a wide range of Ducati Performance accessories is also available: for example, the double Termignoni silencer approved with carbon fiber fondues. The new Monster is available in Ducati Red and Dark Stealth colors with black wheels, Aviator Grey with GP Red wheels. For those who want the bike with an even more sporty image there is in the same colors the Plus version with the aerodynamic dome and the cover for the passenger saddle as standard.

The Monster will be available in Ducati dealers from April 2021.
